Breed fish and earn points towards awards
The Breeder's Award Program was established to recognize member achievements in breeding various cichlids.
The BAP objectives are:
- To learn to breed cichlids and further one's interest activity and knowledge in the hobby;
- To accumulate points at each level, as outlined below, and receive a plaque commemorating the achievement;
- To succeed in becoming a Master Breeder, as defined below, entitling the member to receive a lifetime membership in the GCCA.

Breeders Award Program Rules
- Spawn and raise at least 5 fry to 60 days of age from the date of their becoming free swimming.
- Fry must be from breeders personal fish that are in an tank or aquarium owned by the breeder and still owned by the person.
- Credit will be given for spawning any species of fish only once, as of 2018 GCCA has started to recognize different color variants of species.
- Spawning details must be recorded on a BAP "Breeder's Report" and must be turned in to the BAP Chairman before credit can be given.
- Five fry, properly bagged, must be donated to the GCCA mini-auction for each spawn. A member may choose up to two spawns during each calendar year when a donation will not be required.
- Only members in good standing, as defined by the Constitution, may enter and remain in the BAP.
- Only members of the GCCA Board and BAP Committee may verify spawnings. Transfer points are acceptable only if the verifying board or committee member serves either capacity in the other club.

Exceptions Policy
- Members in good standing may take two (2) exceptions per year in lieu of submitting live fry.
- Exceptions must be submitted with a completed BAP Form.
- Exceptions must be verified by the BAP Chairman or his/her designee. The following forms of verification are permitted:
- Validation of exceptions is at the discretion of the GCCA.
