ooops.  :-  Don't have the bag to read the label. Hopefully that rust remover stuff isn't a tropheus killer.
Officially one week today. The one still has cloudy eyes. Does this go away?

Remember what I said in the quote about salt - I hear water softening salt is fine.  Read the label - it MUST be NaCl ONLY.  Make sure there are no other additives.  The food grade stuff is soooo cheap that without being 100% sure, I wouldnt mess with it.

Incidentally, I grabbed a couple of handfuls of salt out of my water softener and threw it in there. It was amazing how it perked them up. Very cool. They are looking good.
Almost at a week sans casualties. I am so proud.  ;D

I use regular old aquarium salt that I buy at Petsmart.  I add some to every tank after water changes.

By the way Tori...........I can give you that "Hot salt" you gave me and you can try that.  LOL

I will definitely take pictures~ although every time I have tried to upload any pics to the forum it doesn't
work. I have gone through photobucket and did everything the way it says and they still won't upload.
So we'll see.
I still have to pick up the pickling salt. I don't have a Super Wal Mart, so I guess Jewel it is.

going to add more. I'm on day 4 with no casualties, so I don't want to start fu**ing them up now.

yeah non-iodized pickling salt is the way to go.  I like to use it in Tang tanks.

Slover- What tropheus have you kept that have crossed?  Perhaps you can expand on your experiences.

...Perhaps a more substantive response may be useful.

Not all tropheus will cross.  Avoid keeping similar types such as sp. reds w/ reds, brichardis with brichardis, moori w/moori, etc... AND sp. reds with anything that looks similar to the particular type that you are keeping.

Keep an eye on your fish and simply be aware of who is hanging out where.  Many, many tropheus keepers keep multiple variants together.  Often it may not be easy to obtain the a large number of a single variant that is the ideal for dispersing tropheus aggression.. so keeping multiple variants makes for an excellent way to disperse aggression.

What size tank will you be keeping them in?

you can find the Morton pickling salt at wal mart also for about .83 but I have found it has to be a wal mart super store not the regular wal marts
