Its pretty neat to see some actual scientific research/studies done on mbuna by someone I know. ;D
I had wondered whether or not females selected males based on coloration intensity..... Now there should be studies to see if finnage plays any part too....

I'm the second author....hence the JK on the end of my forum name!
We're actually working on getting a second batch of experiments going as I type this. Pretty excited to get it started. It's been alot of fun for me, as all of my previous research was on amphibians and reptiles (snakes, in particular)...so it's been great to expand my horizons. The primary author, Mike, did his dissertation research on color recognition and mate choice in Labeotropheus fuelleborni. Actually, I'll post a published manuscript that came from his dissertation to this post, for those interested.
