Shell Dwellers and Juies work great in a small tank. Altolamprologus calvus and compressiceps would also do well.
In addition, I would add some swordtails or rainbowfish to add some color.

Malawian cichlids would be a perfect fit for that type water. I'm not sure about the size of the tank though. It would make a good grow-out tank.

My brother bought a 29g rectangle that i have setup and cycled,. His tap water is about a 8.2ph and i added limestone slabs to raise it a little more( he lives in joliet a.k.a. limestone city) so i figured i would work with what the water is giving me and go for african cichlids. I dont know much about africans as i have two tanks of S.A. cichlids. So i need some help deciding on fish that would be a fit for him. He has a basic knowledge of fishkeeping as me and our mother both have multiple tanks. Any ideas would be appreciated. Hope to hear from you guys!
