If your tank is near a window, it gets too much light.I'm sure the light on your aquarium is on at night for your enjoyment. If so, you need to block the light all day or relocate the aquarium. Algae doesn't start growing until it receives light for four hours. Aquatic plants use the light immediately for its growth. If you get a timer, set it to be on four hours and off for at least two hours and back on for four, the algae problem should be alleviated without affecting plant growth.
