2 Different Fish....Same Collection Point

Contact the Seller Direct, but from what I have been told and have read

John is selling the Gymnogeophagus Rio Olimar - Like your Link - cichlaholic.com/uruguay_list.html#olimar

Pete is selling the Gymnogeophagus gymnogenys Rio Olimar - Here is a Link to a different collection point (Arroyo Yerbalito) - cichlaholic.com/uruguay_list.html#yerbalito

Can someone confirm or correct me?

I can confirm that is what John is selling.  Not sure about Pete

I don't mean to hijack this thread but had a question on the topic. I am looking to get some Gymnogeophagus Rio Olimar like these cichlaholic.com/uruguay_list.html#olimar

From what I saw there and read on the classifieds, Oyer has Gymnogeophagus labiatus "Rio Olimar".

Currently there is another seller on the classifieds, plecopete. They are listed as Gymnogeophagus gymnogenys Rio Olimar.

I feel kind of stupid because I have no doubt in my mind that either of these fine sellers are mislabeling fish. I just don't know and am wondering if these are the same. I am looking for the ones on Spencer Jack's site as the Rio Olimar from that link. Can someone please help guide me the right way? Thanks.

Sweet!

That makes my Mixture of:

G.g.Paso Pascho I
G. "Blue Neons"
G. libiatus
&
G. balzanii

Okey Dokey? I hope so, it has been working fine for a nice long time!

Every river in Uruguay has 2-3 types of Gymnos, a rhabdotus, gymnogynes and maybe a labiatus type, so mixing and of the rhabdotus group with aay of the mouthbrooders is fine, you can also mix gymnogynes with labiatus with no problem, but don't mix similar fish from different collection locations, i.e. two types of rhabdotus or gymnogynes as they will cross. Hi
Just picked up 4 GYmnogeophagus Rio Olimar from J Oyer today at the swap. What do you all think about putting them in a 55 with 4 Gymno El Norte? John said he thinks it should be ok, but looking for 2nd opinions and other observations. The Rio Olimar are delayed mouth brooder I believe so their breeding strategy is different from the El Norte.
Thanks
