Their coloration reminds me of the yellow black contrast in H.labridens.  They're stunning.


Good observation - there is some similarity there.

Dunno - I failed miserably here.  But as you know, its surprisiing at what small sizes that certain species become mature enough to breed.

At what size are these breeding, I noticed breeding behavior in mine today, and they are 3-4". Very active aggressive fish, but no deaths, just alot of chasing.

Yes, very nice looking fish.  Probably the most challenging fish I've kept.  The aggression and the bloat forced me to place each fish in a separate tank.  The variant I kept displayed more of a creme coloring than the one you have here.

Very nice.  Much yellower than the older specimens Ive seen at shows and such.  Does their color fade with age?  Also, Scott Womack is one of our New World gurus had a heck of a time keeping these fish.

Here's a fish that I haven't photographed in a while.  I recently moved the four fish into a 100 gallon tank.  They are F0 from the Rio Presidio.  Here's the male in an impressive breeding dress.
