Iranocichla Update and a few others

I have never seen any of that available....there was a university in Europe that was keeping Tristramella a couple of years ago, but I have no idea how the stock is doing

Nope, I didn't think anyone is really collecting and exporting out of that region.  I would think it would be tough to make a living trying to...the fish aren't exactly all in one place or even close together for that matter.  And add the political unrest to the mix just to spice things up.

Nothing like trying to scratch out a living collecting fish while dodging missles!

Jeff or Dave, Have you heard of any of the other species being kept in the hobby anywhere? I think a lot of them are interesting, especially the Tristramella genus.

Oops, thanks Sam.  The only cichlid from Iran!  Just a small brain fart...but a smelly one.

Actually their are a few Middle Eastern Cichlids. There are a few Oreochromis that are native to the middle east. Their  is also the Haplochromis Astatotilapia flavijosephi that is native to Israel, Jordan, and Syria. Then you have the genus Tritramella, which is Endemic to Israel.

very interesting fish you have there like they arent that color full but there beautiful fish i sure would liek to have a westi tank some day

would the iranocichla be considered a "westie"

Geographically the irancichla is from waters east of africa, specifically Iran, hense the name.  What category would this incredibly expensive fish be placed in.
