Board of directors positions.

That would be Rick Borsteins call. He is the clubs webmaster. But I know right now it is well staffed, and that myself and Shawn have indicated a desire to help there as well. If things with the web update go as planned, the consolidation is going to put the classifieds under the same umbrea as the forum admins and mods. So I doubt that Rick will be adding anyone at this time. But feel free to ask him about it.

I do appreciate the willingness to help the club. Manpower is always needed at swaps and auctions as well. I know we never turn away help there ;)

Bob,

Is any help needed on the GCCA Ad Administration team? The classifieds would be a good fit for me. I've moderated at Aquachat (Aquabid's chatroom) and Fishforums.com. (I've been at FFs through 3 owners - 12 years)

Being relatively new to cichlids...I wouldn't do very well as a program or publications chair. I'm looking for a nook or cranny where I might be able to fit in.

Y'know????  Interesting question. I am sure that Kieth will want to retain the Classic chair position, and I'm all for keeping him there. Also, chair positions are not voted in. They are appointed by the President if I recall. And I believe librarian is an appointed position as well. If you're interested, come by next months meeting and speak with Shawn or Kieth.

So did the librarian and Classic chair positions open up? (That's why I asked)

Kieth was librarian, and also the Classic chair. He's been in the club a long time and has a tremendous knowledge of every aspect of club operations.

What were Keith's previous positions? Librarian and security?

The Program Chair is what Mike Garibaldi did and did well for quite a few years. Basically this is the person who solicits speakers for the meetings and the Classic. This person is also responsible for the speakers travel arrangements, finding a host, setting up the hotel room if needed, and getting the speaker reimbursed for expenses thru the treasurer. It may sound like a lot of work, but keep in mind that there are 2 rare fish auctions, the Xmas party, there is no speaker the month before the Classic, and the picnic. So 5 months out of the year there are no speakers. I already have all but 3 months filled for next year and I haven't put much effort into it.

The Publications Chair is what it sounds like. This person is responsible for making sure that the club publication, the Cichlid Chatter, is put together and sent out on time. You will have to solicit articles from BAP participants, members, and board members. You as the editor would have a lot of leeway in how you what the Chatter to look and feel.

I hope that explains some of the responsibilities of both positions. As we go along we will be looking for other chair positions to be filled and will include a description of duties with them.

Thanks

DragonKeeper
