Air Pumps
The linear piston pumps are silent as a tomb. I would keep them for three years, never service them, and sell them to guys on the gcca for 1/2 to 2/3 my initial spend. That might seem expensive, but when I had 6 colonies of frontosa and petrochromis, it was cheap insurance.
Cutting corners on a pump never seemed like a good idea. to me. 15 years I never had an issue and I routinely was utilizing the full extent of the pumps capabilities.

Be careful before you buy! Check out the cost for the replacement parts. Since these pumps are made for humans, not fish, the costs are astronomical! Plus I discovered that instead of just buying a small kit of replacement flappers, or whatnot --- you have to buy a kit that will cost MORE than the pump.
Hope this helps

the av-60 is running 20 sponges in big tanks with a few lines bleeding off, there is a ton of bubbles coming from the 20
the medo-80 is running 38 sponges with some bleeding air off as well. not as much bubbles coming from the sponges, that is to be expected.
both pumps are around 80 liters.
i had a ecoplus comercial air 3. that thing was loud, buzzing all the way to it broke in a few months. in the defense of the ecoplus pumps, i was at a guys house a month ago, he had one it was buzzzing and hot, but nowhere near the buzz i had and mine got crazy hot. i should of known something was wrong. but the price is half i think $59.
i have a medo-80, very quite, lots of air and silent. ive been running it for 7 years now, im thinking about putting the av-100 on the shelf for a rainy day when something goes down.

I didn't say anything wrong against John

Maybe, I just wrote that this sale goes for months now and for me looks like marketing trick.Mugwump wrote: I don't see them using a ruse to make sales. It's likely excess pumps that just haven't sold out yet. ...but who knows?

I didn't start this tread and I don't look for new pump (at least for now)
