Using 96*48*24 / 231 = 478. I'm not sure if that formula really holds. It is the size of two 240's.

I'd love to sell it, but the price would probably break my heart.

How many gallons is it anyway?

This died on the table. The infrastructure costs were more than I was willing to spend considering I have a daughter going to college in September.

Now fooling around with the idea of a few livebearer tanks - the multitude of swordfish colors intrigues me.

"If" it happens, my money is on Petrochromis. Big tank, big cool fish that needs a group, and needs strong filtration.

What does the engineer think about the 180? I've got a support under a parallel joist for my 135 - just in case things settle. If a good idea anyway, you might as well go big. You could always use the 180 for a wet/dry sump. (Kidding, sort of.) Gotta be some big cichlids you could pick out that could use a 450-ish size tank to grow out in before going to a big tank.

Make a cabinet around the support columns?

Boy who cried wolf, show us pictures then will talk

Just joking that sounds like a major undertaking.

Why not get a 180 and have it drilled and plumbed for automatic water changes -

I am in glenview if you want to see my simple system

Are you looking to be involved or commited
A Pig and a Chicken are walking down the road. The Chicken says, "Pig, I was thinking we should open a restaurant!". Pig replies, "What would we call it?". The Chicken responds, "How about ham-n-eggs?" The Pig thinks for a moment and says, No thanks. I'd...

I had a structural engineer over today. He isnt thrilled with my idea of putting a 96*48*24 tank in the first floor family room. Join the club - neither is my wife. Joists are going the wrong way and I will need to brace / support from below, which means tearing up the drywall in the basement and perhaps throwing up a few columns. Ughh.

I went to the warehouse where the tank is stored and took off the dust cover - still flawless. I am considering putting the filtration in the basement. Since I am cutting the wall already, screwing up the floor isnt such a big deal.

Maybe just sell that tank and buy a 180. We'll see. More soon.
