30 to 55 Gal UPSIZE
What I did with my tanks when I downsized or upsized (blah blah blah)
I moved all of the water/fish into a stock tub etc etc and then tore down a tank then when I was ready to move them into a different tank I did that. If you don't have pets/and the lady doesn't mind dealing with a kiddie pool or stock tub (can easily borrow someones at this time of the year for some that don't use them indoors as you can borrow my 110g that's sitting unused outside by the way

The tubs/pools are 100% better than dealing with different buckets/heaters to keep them heated up/aerated if your house is cold.

Do NOT try to cycle the 55 with a few goldfish. That could have a lot of potential problems. Think of the move as nothing more than a big water change.
Could there be problems? Sure any time you move a fish you create stress, but it shouldn't be too much. I'd personally go with a 75 rather than a 90 but if you have had success with a 30 I'm sure you'll be fine with a 55.

Would there be no benefit from using the balanced water from the 30 as well as aging 25 more and than adding dechlor.
Do you see a downside to using the 30's H20??
I always age the water and declor....have NEVER had one problem with lots of scaleless species.
I wouldn't use the old water. Just the substrate, aged filters, plants and decorations. That's where your good bacteria are. The old water is just... Old water. Start with 55 fresh gallons and some dechlor.
I also second the 'upsize with extreme prejudice' if at all possible. How long do you really think that 55 is going to satisfy? It's already pretty much full with the 59 fish you have. The whole point of going bigger was to be able to get more fish right?

Grasshopper is very convincing but selling a 90 to the management may be beyond my Jedi powers!

Well, be prepared for some, even following Shawn's excellent instructions. Things happen.
Also, if you're a one tank family and you like a big-time community setup, up-size "with extreme prejudice." I know your almost doubling your original size with a 55g, but go big or go home. If your going 4 foot, go 90g. Sounds like you would have no problem filling it, ultimately.

No it doesn't change my opinion of how to make the change.

Dose this change your opinion on how to do this?
I'm looking for no problems whatever. Time and effort are nothing if compared to possible problems of any kind.
