trying to retain heat in a fishroom and trying to keep kids away at the same way without doing any type of construction is a impossible task but if I'm wrong I would suggest you bottle the idea and make a fortune
sorry

2in polystyrene boards might work. They have an R value of R19 for the heat control aspect and they should work as a barrier between the kids and the tanks.

Other than a leash, i think you are in for trouble.
A baby monitor?

I'm starting back up multiple tanks again after a move. I have an unfinished basement (about 60 down there right now). Play area for the kids and a bunch of storage shelves down there also. Any ideas how to somehow limit heat loss from the tanks or somehow temporarily enclose the tanks in an area without any major construction to keep the kids away from the tanks? Large tarps maybe? Need some ideas please. I will have about 8-10 tanks going.
