well i purchased the 75' 5/8" neverkink boat hose, online for $35 free shipping. now i just hope filling tanks goes much quicker.

where i work there is a pool, and i was talking to the pool maintance guy, and he was telling me all about volume vs. pressure, and the larger hose will always win out, over pressure. a 5/8" hose is almost double the volume of a 1/2" hose. it wont come out any harder/pressure, just more volume.  i was looking at the python hose, and it shuts down to a 3/8" space 5-6 times in the couplers, even though it is a 1/2" hose, there for it is only as good as a 3/8" hose.

just thought i would share this intresting info. i usually sit aroung 1 hour after draining tanks, filling them. i hope this goes faster now.

up at the top you will find a quick links drop down menu, click on the drop down and click new posts and it should pull up all new posts since your last visit

thanks for the replies, i found the rv/boat hose, at menards and home depot, it is cheaper than i expected. i will use that as soon as i get around to actually buying them. ive been holding out for a 75 foot hose. but yet to find it. one store has the 50ft and one store has the 25ft. i will just have to go back to each and buy one of each.

i am up around 30 tanks and drain with a 3/4 hose, and a 2000gph pump quickley, but them there for an aditional hour filling with the 1/2" python. hoping to cut this time in half with this 5/8" hose upgrade.

Sawboy has the right hose. Although I have had a difficult time finding any of the RV hoses at any length over 10ft.

I drain with a 3/4 hose and fill with a python. 17 tanks takes me around an hour and 10min depending on the amount drained.

I've used a few kinds of hose. My thinking is that as long as it is ok for potable(drinking) water it should be ok for fish. I've heard too many horror stories about plain garden hose to want to risk it. A few xtra bucks spent on hose is way cheaper than a tank full of nice fish.

As a precaution, I always make sure the hose is completely drained after weekly water changes.  I would suspect water sitting for a week within the hose will absorb something not so healthy.

I bought the one that is designated for rv's and campers. They sell it at home depot. White with blue piping.

i read the other discussion on garden hoses on this forum. now it has been some time later, is there any truth to garden hoses, being toxic, or is it just a myth, is there something too look out for, or a certian brand to avoid. let me know

i am trying to fill my tanks faster, the python hose is just too thin, it takes 45 min to finish filling after i drain.  i was thinking about grabing a 5/8 garden hose to fill alittle faster. any advice.
