I think most heaters are pretty overpriced no matter what kind they are. I have Stealth heaters in at least half of my 35+ tanks and have only ever had an issue with one.
If you like toys and gadgets go for it. Isn't this going in the tanks you are putting the light set up on. It just adds to the Hi-tech aspect of the tank.

Bob/Steve~
Funny thing is, I still find myself checking the water temp by the finger in water. That was one taught to me by an old neighbor who got into cichlids in the first place in 1979... Kind of like I don't believe it (The Temp gauge) LOL!
;D

I'm with you Kegger. Spent most of my life working in garages with cars. Heaters ain't no different. I subscribe to the K.I.S.S. method.

call me old fashioned or old world but I'm still a firm believer of the good old glass tube that you actually have to read to tell you what the temp is, they have a tendancy not to lie

I believe that to be the case.
"Fluval E Series heaters employ an advanced digital microprocessor to continuously monitor and display aquarium water temperature. Internal thermal sensor continuously samples aquarium water temperature for greater accuracy and reliability. Innovative color-coded temperature alert feature changes LCD screen color if aquarium water temperature varies from the pre-set temperature (Green = Safe Zone, Red = High Temperature Alert, Blue = Low Temperature Alert). Easy-to-use adjustment lever allows precision temperature settings in 0.5° increments."
Again, Lots of bells & whistles for a heater, but I trust the name, and could not find a Jager.

I wonder how exactly this thing is set up? Is the micro processor only for the display and the rest runs like a regular heater? Or does the micro processor/electronics somehow control the temp.
I am starting to believe that it only runs the display, the different color ranges, and flashes when there is a big temp change. The rest is run like a normal heater.
If thats the case, not considering the price, I think that would be very cool.

Understand your Opinion...
I love the gadget aspect, and the thing is working, I like to be able to look at it and see the temp and range that I set for temp alerts.
