Are all your lights 50/50 or a combo. of Sun/white and Actinic 03?

When I had VHO's on my tank, I ran a Actinic dawn/dusk cycle that gave me the worst algae blooms.  Even was religious on replacing bulbs every 6 months and still had some nasty shiz growing.  Was told it was from my actinics.  I too am overstocked, but overfiltered and do not overfeed.  Weekly WC's up to par, but still had some gunk.

I am now running regular flour. 50/50's plus a CF daylight that runs about 5 hours a day to keep the plants growing just enough to replace what gets eaten....

Basically same amout of watts as when i was running the VHO's, just no more nasty.

I do a ton of frozen (Krill, Mysis, Blood Worms, Beefheart, Brine w/Sprilina), NLS, HBH Supersoft, and a lot of sprilina based, I'm sure that has something to do with it....

???

Not sure.  The 50/50 actinic is a 10k and a blue, right?

I use the 6700 (guessing - somewhere around 6000k) bulbs and I get a nice algae growth that is eaten as quickly as it grows.  I dont know what i do differently since we are on the same (lake mich) water supply and we both overstock our tanks.  I feed spectrum.  Not sure what you feed but maybe that is the variable.

I am using 50/50 Atinic, only been an issue in the 220, moved the Driftwood around and such, still, and I have been way on top of it since it was stocked like a Girabaldi 125! Different bulbs? Like what?

Good luck with this thing. Not really necessary in my low tech fish room, but whatever floats your boat.

As far as a UV - I have never seen an algae bloom and I use PC fluorescent bulbs.  Maybe change your bulbs to a different spectrum or throw some live plants in.

Thanks Scott~

Had the wave built for the SA tank, and will use it with a UGJ System for ease of cleaning, The waves, and UGJ, pool waste in spots (in my case on a 6' tank, it will be 5 spots) Others (mostly my salty buds) use it with lighting (Based on a solar calendar) to encourage spawning.

I really am looking forward to the UV sterilizer to control algae blooms (in the 220, I have had hell controlling them, I am going to encourage bob to use one!)

Definately bells and whistles and possibly something I would look at if I had a 500g acrylic monster tank with a school of emperors.  I understand and admire how you pay attention to all the details with your tanks - your fish are well taken care of.

Why the wave?

That's the shiz part about it, sine Ill have only 5 tanks, I can just feed and clean, plus all my fish money is going into a controller, lighting, for these 5 tanks. (except the part where I switch the 75 out for a 4' 120 for upstairs, and then swap the 55 out for the 75.) Consolidation has allowed me to concentrate only these tanks, I like my livestock....today....LOL!
