I haven't completely rebuilt a tank, but I have completely resealed one. Glass has to be very clean. Silicone has to be GE 1 window and door (or something similar) with no bio-seal. I have seen many use tape to hold the tank together while the silicone cures and that seems to work well.

I'm not sure but I was just there- here's the faqs
www.pondarmor.com/faq.htm
It's basically a fish safe epoxy liner that is painted on for outdoor ponds. It is ok for use on wood.

Thanks for the thorough reply, clarity. Forgot to factor the bowing during water changes, though. GOOD CALL!!! Maybe only an eight foot face. What about an adjustable, or rather, adjustable area to take the burden of some of the pressure/stress? Like a hot water bottle/diaphragm type thing? Just brainstorming.
The weight of the water causes the bowing-not a pressure issue in terms of the system being pressurized like it is in a plumbing system. Because of that the diaphragm type of pressure relief system will have no effect. The water is not expanding or contracting because of pressure. It's just plain trying to get out of the tank do to gravity and it's weight is great enough to push glass and wood out of the way at least a little bit.

I personally don't have the skill or patience to build a giant plywood tank but man it would be awsome. Here's a link to something you might use to seal a plywood tank that I read about on another forum:

If you go for it please, please take pictures and keep us updated.
