i've seen that sand it looks cool. i would first look for it near you like petsmart or petco. i know from experience you can bring in a printed add from the internet and petsmart will pricematch it. doing this will save on shipping.
aside from aesthetics that sand doesnt serve much purpose in chicago becuse of our tap water.

Most people suggest not more then 1+ in of sand due to the gases that are produced. I think if you buy 20 pounds and think its too much or too little you can always buy more. So try 20 pounds for now maybe 25 and see what you think.

20Lbs will cover the bottom, but it depends on how deep you want to go. if you are planning live plants you would want a deeper bed. if its just to not have a bare bottom #20 is fine.
