Tapeworms have a head, but it's not always obvious. Either way, metronidazole or flubendazole are good de-wormers.

I have a confession. I'm a cichlaholic.

unfortunately I cant, I had to leave for work and only thought to take this one, I did look at them carefully though. preservation of it wasnt on my mind

they are about the diameter of a bic pen ball, all white with segmented bodies like an earthworm.
neither end was discernible as the head, no darker or anything like that at least.
from one that snagged on the net and pulled out of the fish it was about 12" long

there were 4-6 strands coming out of the mouth and 3 from the gills when i found it. I wanted it all out of the tank ASAP and I was careful not to pull any loose and leave em in the tank while removing.

another question is where did they come from... i feed a frozen cube made from fresh veal heart from the grocery store, freeze dried shrimp, flake and, frozen bloodworms(SFbay brand).

could it come from the veal heart? kinda scary if thats in there for human consumption....

Can you get a better photo of the worm= itself? It would be good to ID it.

I think there is a good chance you have tapeworms, which can be cured with metronidazole.

Found a discus dead this morning when the lights came on. when watching them last night there was no signs of distress from this one outside of the normal pecking order stuff

File Attachment:

how do I kill this stuff off I've never had fish with worms that I know of before.
