fish louse

Fish lice are crustatceans, Argulus sp. A salt dip in 35g/L saline solution for 3-5 minutes is said to kill and make the larval stages that are on the fish drop off. It will also make the adult Argulus drop off the fish, but not kill them.
Treatments for the tank that contain organophosphate or chitin inhibitors are said to work best according to my veterinary textbook.

I have never had or known anyone who had them. I think there is a med out there for them. They are nasty little buggers. They have multiple life stages and are difficult to eradicate completely. Do you have somewhere else to put the fish? A 3% salt concentration supposedly kills them but I'm not sure.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.
