new sump design

with only a 2x4 going across a 6' span is not enough would need a minimum of a 2x6 and actually I prefer a double 2x6 with a 1/2' plywood center just like a door or window header, once the sump starts to fill with water it will want to bow out pushing on the notched out 2x4's thus bowing out the center of the stand which will cause that 2x4 going across to sag and not support the center of the tank frame causing undo stress to the frame and glass and even though the glass most likely won't break the seal for the bottom of the tank would be badly compromised and most likely fail

Wouldn't reinforcing the corners and double bracing the top do the job?  My 125 doesn't have an center supports.

The bigger problem is when / if the plastic tote ever fills with water and starts to push out against those compromised 2x4's.

My suggestion, start over. Re-brace the stand, and do it safely / correctly.

Here is the flex tube I used.  I should have run to opposite sides for the returns to avoid the sharp turn.  Stuff is too expensive to redo.  If this does not work I am going with a lighter one as it is just a drain.

Maybe just cut that hose where it's kinked and add a 45 or 90 degree PVC elbow and two more hose clamps for about $4?

Costs more to do something wrong twice, then correctly once.

Are you concerned about the structural integrity of the stand now that you have notched out the vertical supports?

I would be

Well the ones you buy from the store don't have the internal 2x4 rings at all so I should be good.  I still have about 1 inch there.

We shall see when I fill it.  New impeller comes in Xmas eve.  There might be some pics uploaded of big FAIL.

Plugged it all in ......  and the pump is not working.  Looks like the ceramic impeller is cracked.  - This project is never going to get done.
