DIY styrofoam concrete background questions

10 years 10 months ago #27015 by dgarnier
from what I have seen some people set up so that there over flow is behind the styro, while other seal it right to the glass.  If you seal it to the glass you have to get a good tight seal to keep it from floating up and from the sides.  Seems like quite a bit of work just to make it, then you have to let it cure for a while and then seal it into the tank....

Since I have a few extra tanks l plan to do a DIY styrofoam quickcrete background.  I've read a lot of the DIY theads on MFK and the articles on cichlid-forum.  Are you supposed to seal off the styrofoam so that no water can touch it?  Will water become stagnant behind the styrofoam? is that bad?

I plan to use a 30g breeder to house some shellies.

Not checked for facts.
