Thanks everyone. I personally do not think this stand is over built, if anything it is slightly underbuilt and I have a couple modifications I plan to do for the next. Between water, tanks, substrate and rocks the tanks should all weigh around 1,000lb.

Cutting the notches made me think once, twice and a couple more times before I felt like it was something I should try. You have 1.5" of exposed blade above your table on the saw. Table saws are one of the most dangerous tools in the shop and I just want people to be careful before trying something like that.

As for price, all the materials for the stand came in at about $20. Not a big deal for any fish hobbiest with any level of DIY skills. If you don't have power tools, try a hand saw. Thats how I built one of my first stands.

well i see what you mean by doing it well but idk im just tried of seeing stuff like this and dont get me wrong redak is a great guy but that think could hold a darn 90 gall on top easy with all the reinforcement and i understand the fact we are in the usa and stuff but he is not telling you to do this i dout their would be any way a lawsuit could hold up with and i am just going to be the one that speaks my mind and all that its a great deign for a huge tank but 3 lil tanks come on really one you would make a new comer spend way more then he needs  to on a stand and and im just saying it could of been made in a much easier way so people new to carpentry could do it better and build their way up but hey thats just me

I would reccomend this way for anyone who doesn't feel like living life on the edge.

I do believe the OP's thread was meant for safety for people out there that do not do this day in and day out

now if the OP really wanted you to live on the edge I do believe blindfolds, dull blades and no patience would be in order

i hate to be ace holed but i see why you made it double wide on the bottom but why for the rest they are is just 29s and a 20 people way under estimate the power and sturdy ness of wood and i like the design but i think it was over down to maybe show off or some thing but just me it looks a lil over done and i also dont get why you put a warning and live life on the edge? come on bro what are you doing

Honestly, what is your point here?  If this is in jest, my bad....forgive my ignorance. But I don't see what you are offering up.

I doubt it was to show off, likely to do something right.  If it's worth doing it's worth doing well.

That said, the warning is silly but he is in America... the land of frivilous lawsuits.
