CRAZY SALE

I like the show tanks. I like the large plant selection. I have only ever bought one fish from there and it was a bolivian ram for my cousin's tank. Everything else there I think is rather overprices.

The Altolamprologus Calvus was a pair because when they were cleaning the tank they found babies. The male is a larger black male and the female is a White Calvus female that is still decent size. The male is $129 at half price is $65 and the female is $79 so about $40. I still think $100 is still high for the pair even with the sale.

with the club discount you get 25% off fish, coral and plants, and 10% of other stuff.

$79 for Peacocks and $200 for a calvus! Peacocks are usually high price for pet shops but not that high, and even for a wild pair of jumbo A. calvus, $200 is pushing it.

In my opinion, Aquarium adventure is way overpriced. Overall, the only thing I was really impressed by when I went to their store a year back was the show tanks. They were stunning, especailly the S. American one with all the wood decoration.

I have a confession. I'm a cichlaholic.

so i went to AA in hoffman estates on Monday to look and check out the prices and see if they were inflated. i didnt think they were although the price for a single male peacock at $79 seemed a little crazy. they also had the prices off a tank that has a proven pair of calvus in it. the black male was $129, and the white female was $79 they were selling them seperately which is kinda dumb, but so is the price of $200 for the pair. i got my pair for 50. off the classifieds.

i did spend $10 on plants and got quite a bit of stem plants. with my high light i will double them within the week and maybe have enough to sell some trimmings at the swap. i'm going to go back friday for more plants because that is when they get their plant shipment in.

they did have a new display tank which was awesome and makes me want tropheus. it was a huge tank with lots of large round rock, a clown puke color fine sand and some sand sifters who i couldn't ID and moved too fast for my camera phone. the tropheus were black with a yellow band. deffinately worth a visit just for the show tanks.

I went to the Hoffman Estates store on friday- the day before the sale started

Did have pretty fish and good deals if it was half off for certain fish/inverts

I'm still thinking about if its still worth it to go back during the midweek as 1.50 is a good price for a cardinal tetra

I traded in 2 old pos filters and got 2 brand new ones. An ac 30 and a ac70. Pretty sweet deal. Prices on the fish were JACKED UP prior to the sale. They were asking 79$ for male peacocks. They are usually 49$ I think. Selection was ok. There were people hauling tanks out like crazy. Wish I had the money to spend.

I got the last ac110 at about 11:20.  Looked around - not much in the way of holey rock, at not not that would fint in my tank.  The fish part of the store was a mad house so the wife and I skipped it.  The sale goes all week, so alll the more reason to go back later plus 75 for a 75 gallon it was hard to walk out without buying 1 or 2.

Yes-it is happening at the golf road store as well. At 2:00, no large aquaclear hob's were avail. The marketing rep stated they were out before noon.  But saved on rockwork - they have a ton of new deco stuff, at least at 2:00.
