I recommend this Submersible Water Pump 5W/15W/35W/55W that I bought from Senzeal on www.senzeal.com/submersible-water-pump-98w-4500l-h-p0808.html. Wish can help! It is small and convenient, with different wattages and plugs to choose.

Another avenue to look at is a hydroponics store. There are a few around , usually run by knowledgeable folks.
They have competitive prices and moving water from sumps etc is their business. Jehmco is an outstanding source too.

never used a via-aqua but the RIO's aren't half bad (see you get what you pay for). I used one on my 92 for a few years.

100% agree with the submersible verses the in line pumps.

Hmmm. Always open to new tools, but the eheim really looks pricey. Stay away from off brands and especially via -aqua and RIO and you will be fine.

I always use submersible rather than in line pumps. If a seal / gasket blows, no harm, no foul.

If i had to rely on canister filters I would prob. stop keeping fish.......a can of water under pressure under the aquarium don't get it..

the problem I had with eheim was finding an impeller - the part was almost 50% the cost of the pump. Quiet one and mag drives are the workhorses of the industry. I never had one fail. As far as quiet, i never noticed the difference.

I would go hands down with the larger ehiem, they are significantly more powerful than a similarly rated quiet one.

Everyone who comes over, the first thing they mention is how quiet my sump is.
