Here is a link to a video of my demasoni setup. This was from Christmas of last year. Things have changed a little as far as filtration and I now have a centralized air system with a nice (rated at) 2400lph air-pump for all my tanks.

One of my favorite Malawi combos is a colony of Yellow Labs and a colony of Yellow tail/ purple acei. Great colors and it is a very active, yet peaceful tank.

I have a confession. I'm a cichlaholic.

I wouldnt so much say they are more dominant. They are more active compared to the labs who are a very docile mbuna. the level of activity exhibited by the demasoni could be intimidating to the Labs thus showing the appearance of dominance.

Call it what you wish  ;D But I've never had a lab fry survive for more than a few weeks. I've produced a decent amount of demasoni even while letting them spit into the tank.

my tank was a 55.

my labs never bred in that tank. i currently have about 60 labs in a 55 growing out hoping to thin to about 10-12 to i get a few spawns and then turn that tank into a 55 gallon birchardi tank.

Right now I have 3 demasoni holding and 2 yellow labs. I really need to take the tank down again and capture the holders or else I'll end up with like 5 demasoni and 0 labs in a few weeks. Both species breed like crazy, just the demasoni are clearly more dominant.

I keep a demasoni/yellow lab 55 tank. It looks great, everyone has plenty of room. The demasoni breed like rabbits too. Only downfall is all the yellow lab babies eventually become food.

a demasoni / Lab tank is Awesome.

I Kept a demasoni tank with Labs and i loved it. There were 18 Demasoni and 12 Labs, a great color contrast with lots of activity.

Thanks how large was your tank ? I plan on only 55 gallons
