i think a lot of people read your post to learn from your experience, then read the other comments, and either dont have an answer for your situation, or dont want to be redundant to what others say.

I believe you can view the forum without a username/access to post.

A 55 gallon is too small IMO for fish that reach over the 7" mark such as your Venustus, Red Empress, etc. I also wouldn't have 2 Jacobfreibergi males in a 55. The others offered great advice, but I would think about upgrading to a 6' aquarium.

I bet a lot of the viewers were like me, agreeing with what was suggested. There really wasn't anything else for me to offer. Chefjimmy taught me all most all of what I know....

First I would like to thank Chefjimmy, Ziggy2, and Scubadiver. I have had over 100 views to this topic and only 4 replies. I would think someone would have some more insight. I really appreciate the help these guys provided, but isn’t the point of a forum to respond and comment on post to help others out with the same passion for fish as you? Thanks again guys for everything. I rearranged the tank again and all my fish have made it so far…. I’ll keep you posted on their progress….
Thanks,
Bill

Agreed 50% weekly, and hiding spots, with blocked sight line. I think they will work it out. New fish usually get picked on when they are trying to find their own spot.

My fish tend to get more aggressive when I dont feed them daily when they are swimming around with full tummies they tend to be lazy. Also the hybrid ob peacocks and red empress both tend to be more aggressive especially the petstore grades. Having a larger fish that is tough but not aggressive sometimes helps as the more aggressive fish cant be number one in the tank as due schools of fish they cant catch like yellow labs.

Aggression is also all relative

Last is try to provide decorations where fish can hide out of the line of sight of the more aggressive fish.

I would add some rock to break of the line of sight. I do weekly water changes, about 50%.

Chefjimmy....First thank you for the reply.... Yes I have about 20 including the two plecos and the little ones…. My buddy who is also into the hobby said I should add a couple more "target cichlids"… I had never heard that term he said like Yellow Labs or cheaper cichlids I don’t care as much about to fill space in the tank. What are your thoughts?

Also yes the new larger fish are taking the beating…. I rearranged the tank and added hiding spots…. But I think I need taller plants and possibly rock formations to break up the open area of the tank. I think I have too much open area. I was reading, that breaking up the line of vision will help. What are your thoughts?

You say clean water... I have one large biowheel filter and one canister filter on the tank...... how often should I change the water and how much?

Thanks again for all of your help!
