Ps. demasoni x Metriaclima zebra

Not to throw a wrench in the discussion, but the blue could be male Metriaclima Esterae.  In the wild there are many more blue males than orange males.  After the fish were first brought to the hobby, they were line bred to produce orange males.  After the initial introduction, there were many years that there weren't any wild caughts imported, therefore, the hobby was left with only orange males.  In the 90's there were wc's imported once again which brought back the blue males to the hobby.  If your fish aren't too many generations from wild, there could still be blue showing through.

The pair are Metriaclima zebra 'OB Gold' Kawanga.  The Male is Yellow and sorta stripped.  The female is OB.

There are a lot demasoni, males and females.  Hopefully the OB female didn't stray from her mate.

I would suggest that if there are males / females of both species hybridization, although possible, is unlikely.

dang....I'll have to grow them up a little so I can see what I've got.  They don't look ilke demasoni fry, but the dorsal has a little blue in it.  I am not sure what these fry are supposed to look like.  Oh well, at least my leleupi are sitting on eggs.

All mouthbrooding cichlids can hybridize with another mouthbrooder.

Definitely not impossible. Anything can happen in a Mbuna tank.

Is it possible for demasoni to cross breed with Metriaclima zebra?  A zebra female just spit and I don't know that the fry are supposed to look like.
