Well good news and bad news, They are G rhabdotus, bad news they are not anything close to Frayle Mureto, look like blue neon to me from Treinte y Tres, but I would not call them anything other than Rhabdotus at this point. www.aqvaterra.com/cichlids_other_fishes.php

it's been 36 hrs since i first noticed the eggs and they are still there. Some of the eggs age getting the black dots in the eggs. I also noticed that the larger one (male) also has the black underbelly similar to the female.

I swear on a stack of TFH magazines every time I plan to move fish around to make room for something else they one of the species decides to spawn.

I was going to take all my swordtails and move them from the 55 to a 20 high so I could sell them at your MAS auction. but the HRP's in the 20 High spawned and ruined that. So all the HRP fry died one day and I was going to move the HRP's to a 20 Long after I moved all the Compreceps from that tank to the 75.

Then the Gymons decide to spawn so I still cant move them, but at least now I can have an empty 55 for the Tropheus and O. Ventralis I have coming in next week.

Yep, your larger fish is the male (longer and pointed unpaired fins) and the smaller fish is the female (shorter and rounded unpaired fins)

Nice looking fish by the way.

Jeff

Too many fish?  Never.  Not enough tanks?  Always!

eggs

Smaller fish (female?)

She practically washed out in color and now has a very dark black underbelly, Pelvic fins and throat

Large fish (male?)

While in the tank, guarding the female and eggs, the vertical band through the eye is very black. that stripe was not there last week, and was present when the fish were all smaller.

Largest fish , the one that spawned, on a 4" ceramic tile to show the true size of the largest fish.

24 hours has passed and the eggs are still there. The smaller on which i would guess is the female took on some cool color changes after she laid the eggs.
