gymnogeo's spawned

I attribute the Ick to a learning curve and working with cold water live-bearers and their diets. If I could only get some fish Out of my basement I could set up their tanks how I would like and hopefully that would settle them down and I would get a chance to work with them and figure them out.

And I lost the gymno fry. They were just gone one morning, so sign of them anywhere. Working on moving them to a 55 in the next few days.

Bummer.  That happended to me one winter when I switched to a powder dechlor.  I thought I had a bug, but I figured out that I screwed up the conversion of scoops to number of gallons.  Not my dumbest move, but in the top 10.  Your situation is likely a bug, but if you see reccurrence, try different things with your water changes - they might not be adapting.

I haven't really killed anything in mass lately except for a week old batch of HRP fry. I think the parents come down with something because they were all covered in fungus. But I saved the parents, thank you pimafix.

And I had 2 ick outbreaks in the past few weeks all contained to individual tanks - both tanks of Live-bearers. Which treating was difficult because they are coldwater live-bearers and heat would kill them.

I live on the Fox River not the Des Plaines.

Yeah... I've been holding off on the WC's on tanks with new fry in them. Right now I have New fry in 3 of my 30br, and 20 L. Plus I have 5 x 2.5, and 2 x 5's all with fry in them.

well it's been a few days and things seem to be going well. the Pair are defending their wigglers and the other 8 Gymnogeophagus are on the other half of the tank except at feeding time then it is one giant free for all.

The 4 goodea species are not bothered by the gymnos and they swim all over the tank.  The parent have moved the fry twice since hatching. So Far it is looking good.

We're now are 87 hours from when I discovered the eggs. I noticed 2 or 3 that were hatching out of the eggs and I expect them all to be wigglers in the morning.

That will make this project more fun because I will then have to search for the fry that I am sure the parents are going to move around and hide behind the driftwood in the tank.
