Growing out some fry from this pair, looking forward to see some of the variations, if any.  Male is very protective of the fry and the female reacted to aggression with the last bacth of swimming fry by eating them.

I'm thinking the same.  All the morphs co-exist in Nicaragua and breed together.  I'll probably put a bunch up on the classifieds.

I would think no as it is just a color morph of the same species. There is no difference in location variant, and in the wild different color morphs will spawn with each other.

I have a confession. I'm a cichlaholic.

Thanks!  Albert was right - very good parents.  Fry all over the tank, huge spawn, half stay with the female on her half of the divider and half are with the male on his side.  She passes through the opening to "steal" a few of his portion.
