Yes, who knows for sure.  I picked each and both since three turned within a week and neither is displaying overt dominance, while another, the first one, turned immediately and fully.  Ultimately the peeling is triggered, I was just speculating on the trigger.

IMHO, With Amps of the like, it has more to do with dominance then stress, unless you water is bad, but mine (devils)in the past have peeled as the dominate fish in a 125 @ 3". But its fish, like a female, as soon as we think we have it right, were wrong!

Awesome.  I can't wait to see more as they grow.

Here are a few pics of those in the process of "turning."  Interestingly, one went all white/cream and reverted back to partial darkened pigment.  Leads me to believe that the process of pealing is dependent upon dominance, stress, or maybe both.

I'll try and get some pics soon -a second one has just peeled to cream-orange in color.  Very interesting seeing such a bright coloring transform from a barred display.  I have the barred variant on-site as well and seeing the contrasts during every fishroom visit is fun.

Is it "soon" yet?  I am keeping all tanganyikans now so I need to get my central/south american itch vicariously.  ;D

Those are Gorgeous!!!

How big are they? My biggest colored male is at 10 inches. I think the barred is at 11.

Chris makes a good point. These are a more elongated type of amp like labiatus or Zaliosum not as Robust as Citranellum or Amarillo.

Let me know when you want to sell that pair. lol...

Pair is not mine but those of the seller from whom I bought my fry from. Mine are now approaching 2 inches - one has pealed to white/orange already, in a tank full of barred sagittae and chancho juvies.
