Those yellow labs are simply incredible looking.  You are doing it right - they look very interactive.  Here's hoping you breed them - I agree, it sure looks like a female in breeding dress.  Good luck and keep us posted.  They just look great - nice work.

I agree with Nuth that it definitely looks like you've got a female getting ready to breed.  I just had my texas pair off and spawn, while they are not 100% the same they are both herichthys.  To me it doesn't look like any of the males have paired up with that female.  When it happens every other fish in that tank will be gluing themselves to the glass furthest away from the designated spawning site.

The texas that Scott got to breed bread in a ceramic cave, mine breed in a ceramic flower pot with a partially blocked entrance.  Scotts blue labs went in a pvc pipe.

One thing to consider is setting up a spawning site.  Once i saw a female begin to get into breeding dress i watched where she was hanging out.  i tried to make the place she was guarding easier to defend, I pulled flower pot to one side of the tank an put some drift food and pvc around it.  If I were you i'd toss in one flower pot(just to give them an option) and watch the female Nuth mentioned.

Good Luck!

Kevin-

The man is Scott Womack (aka:BaldTaxGuy) He has been successful breeding the Blue's, The Blues are rougher then the Labridens I have kept, (White/Blue) and from what I am told the Yellows are a happy medium between the Whites (Mellow, IMHO) & The Blues (Can be nuts!) In Fact I am looking forward to grabbing Scotts oddballs (non breeders) for my 125.

BTW- I think you better watch the female at the bottom left of the tank (Breeding Dress) the way she is defending, I would bet you have fry. That big boy is a work of art! Looks to me like you have at least 1 pair and 2-3 females in color. Consider me in line for fry and or oddballs.

The PVC is a great choice.

I still have them.  A couple of the guys in the club are encouraging me to try to breed them.  I put some pvc tubing in the tank last weekend and I am seeing a lot of activity in the tank!

One of these guys is a lot bigger than the others.  He is actually pretty dosil.  He isn't throwing the breeding colors like the other males are.

Anyway, I shot some video tonight and uploaded it to Youtube.  Check it out and let me know what you think.

Also any help or tips in getting these to breed would be welcomed!

Yellow Labridens should be easy to sell. I think 2-3 in. go for about $25.
