Looks like we're in the same boat Mike, the amarillo are down to 4, I just put them in a tank with 10 bifas and 6 kieneri all bigger than they are, the overcrowing in the 50 high seems to have tempered their aggression toward each other a bit. Also, because the tank is almost bare, no territorial markers to quibble over.

Duane set me up with 12 or so tuba a while back.  I split them into 3 groups - down to three fish.

Nuts.

yeah, a nasty group of fish. Ron Coleman says it has to do with their territory requirements in the wild. Males hold something ridiculous, like a 50 yard diameter territory.

I have a confession. I'm a cichlaholic.

I acquired 8 tuba a while back, and in short order ended up with 3 males, my friend Mike Pauers acquired a 10" female. I gave him the 3 males she killed 2 and is now spawning regularly with that one left over male. I had 10 of her 1st spawn and they all finished each other off.
The asfraci aren't far behind I started with 4 from Gene and the pair that are living copasetically now, killed the other 2.

Wow, those are some lists.
I have a few Jack Dempseys.  Gold, blue and even a wild standard.
I also have a Honduran Red Point pair. The male is a standard and the female is a xanthic.

Got Dempseys??? Check out:

Cool Tomocichla. I hear those guys are brutal. At the shop I work at, we had Tomocichla tuba. These guys were terrors. We had one survive out of 50. He belly shotted all the others. The fish was a little over an inch! I sold him just as he was getting some color. I hope whoever has him now didn't underestimate his brutality.

I have a confession. I'm a cichlaholic.
