I've got some seriously nice F1 comps from Oyer that I'm looking to move. Same flavor as yours Aaron, just not wild.

Nice

I am pretty psyched to attempt to set up breeding space for all these fish.

I can already see one julie pair appears to have formed, one seems to have disappeared and the other two look to be pairing off, but it's hard to tell.

The boop males are starting to pick out gaps to own and coloring up and fading back to silver.

I need to ad more comps.  Two like to fight each other and the other one just goes else where in the tank...I mean there is plenty of space for them all to get along.  They're only 2.5" at most.

I debate moving out the bristlenose.  It appears that the boops are keeping the anubias clear of algae, but I don't really know.

Yeah I was thinking petros might be too messy and i might need too many petros in order for them not to destroy one another...Unless it was a petro trio or something.

I am looking to end up with a big show 330g and two 125gs.  One 125g for growing out fry.  My question is:

Do I go big with moba show tank or do I go big with a mixed tang show tank?

If i went big moba style they'd be solo cause they're breeding in a 125 now and I don't want to discourage that by adding tankmates.

If i went big with mixed tangs I'd like to try to end up with this kind of stock list:

A pair of each of these:

  • Altolamprologus compressiceps "Fire Fin"
  • Julidochromis transcriptus
  • Neolamprologus leleupi
and a group of each of these:
  • Ophthalmotilapia boops Kipili "Neon Streak"
  • some kind of cyp(kitumba)
  • some kinda petro(Moshi Yellow)?

What do you think?  Is the mixed bag crazy? Especially the petros?

Petros might be too much for the rest of the tank.

Do you just add another 10 when you get Comp. fry?

I've got a pair of Yellows that spawn all the time in my community tank.  The eggs, or fry if they get there, get picked off.  Was considering a tank for the pair and raising the fry in seperate GO but worried it is to time consuming to grow the fry.

For the time being, yes.  Soon I hope to add another 10g for demasoni.  Once the comps hit a certain size I'll start to consolidate them into slightly larger grow out.  Also I might run out of 10g tanks.

Just got a bunch of Pseudotropheus demasoni Pombo Reef.  They came in pretty shredded.  One little, suspected, male has one eye that's getting cloudy and one that's good and gone.  I guess that's what happens when you stick this little guys in close quarters with no hide outs.  Other than that they are looking good, good size and l think I got an extra, I can't confirm that quite yet.
