My favorite would be Pseudotropheus Saulosi. Great looking males and females. Had a male spawn today with a female, watched the action for about an hour, man does my female have loads of eggs in her mouth.

If I only had 1 favorite, I wouldn't need so many tanks, and thats just no fun. I have no favorites.

couldn't have said it better myself except
if it doesn't float to the top, it's my favorite as I look at it

My running joke when discussing specific species I have or want is that its "my new favorite cichlid."  But, if waterboarded, I would admit that the top of my list has to be umbriferum - personality, violence, size, color...its the complete package. Here is my male who is looking for a girl (got one?)

I guess I will start this topic. i think it is interesting to know what everyones favorite cichlid is. include personal experiences, pics, anything!!

My favorite cichlid is my good old sunshine peacocks. the group is 1m/3f and is about 2 1/2 years old. they have produced many fry for me and they just have grown on me. they were originally supposed to be Germans, but were miss-labeled. here is a pic of the male.

What about everyone else? what's your favorite?
