Where is the proper place to offer half a table in the classifieds. I had one in the "Area Fish Events" last night but I saw it was gone this morning (it was actually validated). Is that the wrong spot, or are we not allowed to "sell" half a table. I have seen ads in the past offering them and I did not see in rules anything about a half table.

If we could only get as much passion around the fish on this forum as we do the swaps - lol.

Hey vendors let's see some pictures of your favorite fish, breeding setups, advice for others, what are you struggling with, whats your favorite food, what's your favorite accessory, etc.,

We are all part of the midwest cichlid community -

I am pretty sure that 1/2 tables wont happen. You can buy a table and try and "sell" 1/2 on the gcca classifieds. If we ask the management to do that, it would be a burden. Imagine if them paired 2 guys who couldn't stand each other?

Vendors will always come. And if one table is too small for all of your stuff, well, organize your stuff, keep track of what sells and refill from below the table.

Thanks to all who make the swaps happen.

I also agree with you. It should limit to 1 table per vendor or maybe increase the price for the 2nd table. Also it can provide the option for 1/2 table for the smaller vendors.

I guess technology isn't all what it is cracked up to be.

If we could make it so that the vendors could come in after the fact and add what they are bringing, that might alleviate the bottle neck.

It might be a good idea to view the registration log t see who signed up as a member and who was really a member. It sounds like you are saying folks are using other peoples credentials to get in early. That is dirty pool, IMO.

Yes the reason why you could not go back in add more tables was we had to turn on a feature to prevent vendors from giving their user id over to their buddies to register.

When we opened up the swap to members we had people trying to work the system and bend the rules.

Rather than call out the vendors who were giving their user id and passwords to their friends and going through the whole I did not, yes you did scenario.

We had to turn off allowing multiple registration which makes it harder for the good guys.

One concern is that as we speed up the site the people who type slow are the one's that may not get a table.

And people will be more in a rush because instead of selling out at hour after the swap opens we will sell out 30 minutes after it opens up.

Like I said there are a lot of people who do things because they are nice.

Did i tell you about the Chicken who asked a pig to open a restaurant. The Chicken says, "Pig, I was thinking we should open a restaurant!". Pig replies, "What would we call it?". The Chicken responds, "How about ham-n-eggs?" The Pig thinks for a moment and says, No thanks. I'd be committed, but you'd only be involved.

I guess we need more people to be committed rather than involved.

That is not true Kegger (Steve), Carl and Phil have called you nice many a times when you treated us well for coming so far to participate in the mid-west's best fish swap/show.

I would like to advise:
1. I went on site, signed up for two tables, quickly typed in all my notes on what fish I was bringing and hit confirm. Site failed out and lost everything.
2. Did same again, but faster, site failed at confim again and lost all notes on fish.
3. Attempted 3rd try, time flying by, was not able to select two tables under any circumstances. Site was chugging along at one click and 2-3 minutes for page to load.
4. Was able to sign up for a single table thinking I could go back in and sign up for one more as I am a paying GCCA member. No. I could not go back in as it said I was already registered (even though it would not let me pick two tables).

I absolutely rely on this GCCA event 4-5 times a year to sell the fish that I breed and prevent overcrowding and having to shut down my breeding hobby/addiction. This was very stressful and usually is a little stressful getting signed up on time and getting order confirmed, but this was far more technologically challenged than usual. I did get a call back from Jason and hope I am all set.

I understand the costs and the size of the site, service, club and volunteer pool. I live in Madison, WI, so volunteering is financially prohibitive due to a tank of gas one way and I sell at each swap. If there is anyone who has ideas or suggestions to alleviate signup stress on servers or another location that club can grow into, please send them to the board members. Let's see what is out there and what could be looked at to get more tables sold, more money coming in for club and it works out smoother for everyone. If things do not change we will still gladly signup and come to swaps, it would be nice if it was easier. Just my two cents. Phil

Today we have 185 members (now about 10 to 25 do a majority of all the work as volunteers - because they are nice I guess).

Each person provides his or her own benefit to the club.

I know we would love to get another 10 volunteers out of the 185.
