The real world is high school all over again. At my work there are 3 cliques actually 2 cliques and the rest of us would make a 3rd clique if you want to think that.

I still think there needs to be a 3rd auction in the fall sometime. Not all of us have fish who breed on schedule and are of a sellable size when the january auction comes around. As much as I like the gcca I might have to start going to greenwater stuff, and the MAS, and Iowa because we dont have auctions when people want them. In oder to get rid of my fish I'll have to drive them to the Ohio convention because my own club doesn't want to be bothered with hosting another auction.

Yep,  I would agree that there are new people trying to jump in and help out.  Unfortunately many of the "old guard" with the exception of a few are not as inviting as one would think.  Almost cliquey.....like high school

I agree. The people who worked the last auction at the classic are the same people who worked the auction before that. the people who volunteered at the last swap are the same ones who volunteered at the swap before that. And it is a pretty good bet thet about 90% of the people who volunteered at one thing also volunteered at the other.

The situation we have with people volunteering in the GCCA is the same situation that everyorganization has, 10% of the people do 90% of the work.

This is my view. People want things from the club.. they want another auction, they want different speakers, they want more swaps but they don't do anything about it. If we had more people who helped out it might happen, but with the same group of people each time it gets hard.

For everyone that is always there, that does help, yes you know who you are, Thanks. The events happen with the help of the members, if people are not willing to help then things won't happen. Don't ask what Gcca can do for you, but what you can do for Gcca.

Agreed Ray.  But I am sure the workload for an auction is huge.  Unfortunately the help from club members is just not there.  I can hazard a guess as to why more people don't want to jump in and help,  but I won't state it here.  I bet it is for the same reason I no longer am as willing to help out.

I really feel there needs to be a fall auction.  We have 2 auctions 4 months apart then nothing but swaps for the rest of the year.

Myself, Rebecca, Mike and Mary L, reconciled the auction yesterday before the board meeting. Great auction, Kingfish Service's donated approx 35 bags of drygoods to start us off. Then came 715 bags of Cichlids, with approx 30 of them being donations to the club, for a total of 750 items. Avg bag sold for just under $13 that's a very high number. The auction was very heavy with Tropheus which is really helped keep the numbers up. One item sold for $120 with at least a dozon going over $60.
I would like to thank everbody who helped make this one of the best auction thus far. Let's start getting ready for January!

PS: Checks will be written this week and delivered at the June 8th meeting with the remainder being mailed.
