You were selling the air pumps with your son? I bought a couple of them from you because you took the time to talk about them even though it was a mad house that day. I think you discounted one too. Thanks, you treated me well.

that was my dad and my brother out there. my dad is the salesman when it comes to equipment, and the little brother (he's 9) is there to look cute and get free stuff (very jealous of). we sold most of our pumps because we upgraded to a central air pump. and i agree, it was CRAZY in there. over 1k of people. thanks for the kind words, always good to hear a satisfied customer.

i had a table out in the hallway because i reserved 3 tables and got one. so they felt nice and sold me one in the hall. full price. not a bad deal since there were over 1000 people in the room and people would go out into the hall to cool off. worked for me  :D

Comments pertaining to how the swap is organized/run should be directly addressed to the Swap Chair (Sawboy AKA Bob). Personally I don't see any problems with the current set-up. It has worked and prospered for many years.

Enough with the derail....

Any who...

Congrats on your first of many successful swaps Mr. Chairman. If you need any help you know where to find it!

Jeezus

I made a comment, jokingly!

I Did not know there was really a guy selling labs in the lot, That is comedy!

Really...nothing really can be done about it....many peeps cut deals in the lot, I sold some filters and the dude picked up in the lot, nothing wrong about that, not a habit, did it once, guess it was not truly a "gateway" type of sale....LOL!

Whoa......Lets get back on track! Ray's constructive comments can be noted by the chair, and addressed. But I derail....Oh wait, that what this has become!  ;D

Great Swap Folks! I enjoyed seeing everybody! Talked to everybody! Wish I could have spent more time with good friends like Shawn, Shelly, Kegger, Bob, Sam, Don, Rick, Hazard, Captain Bob/Gale & people who I am getting to know like Dave, Homer, and Jeff.

Thanks GCCA! What a great day!

There were tables that were not used.

Wrong Ray.  There were not table(s) unused. There was one table that was unused.  It belonged to a "no show".

Well I guess they were either a really late show or sold out and left by the time i made my first lap around the room at 10:20

Ric perez had 6 tables under his and his wife's name. One of those easily could have been given up if we really needed them. Ric reserves for his out of state buddies and pays for all the tables.

Wrong AGAIN Ray… Yes Ric had 6 tables reserved under his and his wife’s name.  However he, Pete and his wife used four.  The other two were actually used by the gal that used to own King Coral. And Ric did not pay for all of them.  They were paid for by the people using them.

Maybe this swap they were all used by Durkin himself and the king coral lady, but in the past he has gotten his 6 tables and had Rogne, and other Wisconsin people with him.  And at the last swap I was at the table when Ric paid for all the tables before he went in and he still split them all with others. He may have been paid back inside, I don’t know, but he did front the money.

At the last swap we had people in the hallway with tables,

That was a one time thing.  It was done to correct an error.  Tables will not be set up in the hallway again for this exact reason.  Do it once and people think it should always be that way.  As a matter of fact I had a vendor who had been to every swap for the last four years on the waitlist who desperately wanted a table.  Myself,  Sam Miller and Rick all decided against it.  Bad precedent to set.......proven by your very words Ray. The good news is that a cancellation came up and that vendor was called immediately and he took the table.

Assumed the table was an error, but wasn’t sure if we were going to continue to have a table out there. Also the GCCA keeps a table, but did not see a GCCA table inside the swap room. What is that table used for?

maybe we should look at limiting the number of tables to 3 instead of 4.

Ray, have you ever heard the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."?    No need to change something that has worked and worked well for a long time because one guy decided to sell out of the lot.

How many people were left on the waiting list the night before the swap? Adjusting the number of tables from 4 to 3 per person would allow more people to get tables and possible offer either a new bloodline of fish or species that not everyone carries.

A lot of people share tables and it’s hard to tell who is sharing in advance except through the classifieds. Maybe make the registration system more user friendly to allow vendors to change and update info.

I did not take them as criticism.  Just wanted to point out the facts.

All of Rays comments are, in essence, valid.  i dont think anyone needs to take them as criticism.

As far as DB's selling in the parking lot - it aint worth worrying about.  Remember, there is a DB in every crowd.  If you dont know who it is, it may be you.  Low lifes come and go.  The good news is that eventually they go.

When guys are looking for tables and there are people or groups with 3 or 4 tables, we should absolutly limit the numbers that can be reserved.  IMO, individuals should reserve for themselves, not for buddies, etc.  We need to know who is renting our tables so that, for instance, we can let them know about special events, changes, etc.

It always works well - it always looks easy - but only because we have a ton of folks working to make it so.
