Marty,
There are usually some great BAP fish, you can pick these up at the meetings extremely reasonable.

If you grow those fish out, some of them are very desirable fish.

Sometimes people donate breeding groups at the meetings as well.

I just rejoined the club after a few years of not keeping any fish, moving a few times, having children, new jobs, etc., and have plans to grow my sorry BAP total. I'd be interested in anything old world if people have stock available. I plan on moving fish along and helping other BAPers out when I can - but have nothing to move along right now. Just a few groups of juvies right now. Let me know if you can help a (fish) brother out.

I have beautiful pair of Geophagus Steindachneri they are really pretty line and breed easy free to any active members. Matt you may want to try these they are really cool fish (as long as you find a pretty variant they are cool)

Matt, do you have any interest in breeding Tilapia Snyderae? I have a pair. Easy to breed, and they are on the CARES list as an endangered fish. I could bring them to the swap.
