Lake Tanganyika somewhere near the Congo / Zambian boarder.  I'd want to see some Fire fin comps in the wild, some Zaire fronts, and then slide south to find Tropheus ilangi.

I'd love to go somewhere on the Amazon and fish for Peacock Bass....and later search for some rare plecos.

Not checked for facts.

i would love to isit tanganiyka, but picking a location would be impossible.  i love the birchardi and would love to see a school of 2-3-400 birchardi in the wiild, as well as seeing shelldwellers and lelupi, and gobies in their natural habitat.

I would also like to visit the amazon areas and search for wild caught apistogrammas and cories as well as see schools of discus in the wild.

Old World: Nkondwe in Tanganyika (Tanzania) to see the most beautiful variety of featherfins in action.

New World: Rio Iriri in Brazil, to witness the warm, oxygenated riverine environments under the waterfalls... and to snag some precious plecs.

I am a basic old school guy.  I would love to go to South America and see Oscars in the wild.  Imagine coming across a school of 30 or 40 Oscars.  Awesome.

And then to Tanganyika to see big majestic Fronts cruising the depths.

Basic old school stuff.  Nothing out of the ordinary for me........at least not with fish  ;)

Rules to the game. Choose one location you'd like to go on a collecting trip to. If you want, choose a new world and an old world location. Please give a short reason why you chose your location.

Other rules. Expect you won't be kidnapped or killed on the trip. For example, you are American and want to collect Iranocichla in Iran.

My two

New World- Columbia: I always thought it would be cool to bring back some of the fish Native to Columbia that are hard to get, for example Hoplarchus psittacus and Geophagus pelligreni.

Old World- W. African crater lakes. I think those fish are so cool and very diverse and wish they were easier to get in the hobby.

Looking forward to seeing what you guys put down!

Sam Borstein

I have a confession. I'm a cichlaholic.
