Sam is "newworld".  He's collected what he believes is amarillo out of Apoyo, vs. the known distribution of Xiloá.

I thought they went from Ric, or from Mike to Sam/Rick to Ric....the 3 had the main pair together at one time....who was first? Mike should know.

No, they circulated through the club around 2008-9.  I believe Mike Garibaldi or someone originally acquired them from Rapps and the breeders got passed around.

Did you by chance get some from a guy on Cichlid Madness? I got these 2 from Duane and had gotten 3 more from a guy on cichlid madness back in 2008.

Nice, I had these once.  Very similar to flaveolus (other than the endemic lake), maybe the same fish with human intervention happening?  Or both are just citrinellum variants?  Who knows, who cares, cool fish.

Heres a couple pics of my amphilophus amarillo pair. Male is 10 inches and the female 6-7 inches. Female pic is when they had fry and the male pic is when they didn't. This is actually a rare pic of him in a relaxed state. Usually he is super barred up.
