Lost my male back in July due to my back problems. Female doesnt act the same anymore. She seems kind of "lost". Sad to see. My fault, but I had 2 herniated discs and a pinched nerve and it really hindered what I could do. He was 1 of my favorites.

Yeah it does. I think my 2 male Flavelous though are starting to not look so much like him. Females though are diff story. When they go into breeding dress they look just like the female amarillo when she lightens up. But they are in diff tanks in diff rooms so it may just be my eyes lol. Dude I just went and checked out the flavelous and I think my 2 males are a little darker between the hump and mouth and I think thats were I am getting the whole diff looking thing other than that I think bodies do look the same, but my amarillos are in the pond and I cant do a live fish to fish comparison. I dont always think our digital camera makes my fish look the same on film as in person, but alot of times I think that since I personally know and have raised the fish from a toddler that I don't always catch the similarities if you know what I am saying lol. The only reason I have diff varieties of amphilophus anyway is cause how much I fell in love with my original petsmart midas. I had 4 originally b4 I told myself instead of having a tank full of only 1 species I should try a tank full of diff amp species. And then the addiction spread to 5 tanks lol.

A couple updates. Male fanned the eggs out trying to defend the opening and the Chancho gobbled them up.

I bought a wild pair from TUIC back in 2008 or so.  They bred like rats, fry were freely distributed, pair went to the borsteins, who then, I believe gave then to Perez.
