GCCA October 2012 Auction Registration Now Open

7 years 3 days ago #32851 by Indian Woods
Just to clarify, the rules say that you may enter 5 bags per species and 5 bags per color morph.

If a seller brings in angel fish, is it 5 bags of any colors of angels or will it be 5 bags per color type? IE 5 bags of blacks, 5 bags of golds, 5 bags of silvers etc.

Thank you.

They used to have over 1000 bags. People got fed up when a guy would bring dozens of bags of catfish, or plants, or equipment. The Auctions too hours and would often go to 10 or midnight.

Some folks brought broken equipment and tried to foist it off on the unsuspecting. The buyer would open the box realize he got screwed and then we would void the sale. Lots of time and labor for no real benefit. Some members said we were getting unfriendly and our reputation was suffering because of our arrogance. Real drivel.

Bring cash and a cooler. You will have a ball. Its rare that there is only one bag of something (big, big cichlids the exception) and bags are cheaper at the end - usually, anyway.

Dont be afraid to run bags, either. The workers will thank you and you will get to see more fish up close.

Auction set-up starts around 8:30and at that time fish start comming in. However, most fish get entered after 9:00. For the most part, we let people view the fish entered starting at 8:30 ish, except for a small time frame just before the auction starts.
Most auctions have between 600 and 800 bags of fish, and no one is turned back from attending. We stay and sell every bag, no matter how long it takes. Most auctions are completed between 4 and 6 o-clock.
We also have a "Priority Bag System", you buy a priority sticker and have a vullenteer place it on the bag and they will bring it directly to the auctioneer. Your bag will then be auctioned very quickly, so be ready to bid...

A Pig and a Chicken are walking down the road. The Chicken says, "Pig, I was thinking we should open a restaurant!". Pig replies, "What would we call it?". The Chicken responds, "How about ham-n-eggs?" The Pig thinks for a moment and says, No thanks. I'd...

How early should a buyer get there? Do the auctions typically get filled up? Does anyone get turned away? Thanks!
