We will have a 75 gallon tank for the Dec. 5th swap raffle. Don't forget to buy tickets!

As soon as I say your question I thought LED lighting. I, as an example, cannot afford the initial cost, but I can afford auction tickets.  It probably applies to most people.

tanks, tanks everywhere-and nary a tank to spare!!!

I think one of those cool led light strips from marine land would be great!

Thats the exact thing I have been thinking about the whole time. I know they were a hit at ACA, maybe for the next event we will get one.

Mike, Since donations are down from vendors/manufacturers I suggested we start a seperate raffle fund. Every time we have a raffle, we save the money and the pot builds time after time. We started with nothing 2 events ago, now we are up a good some of money. We bought 2 40g breeders for the raffle at the swap, they paid for themselves and we made money.

So by the time of the classic, we should have enough money for a big tank setup or something else.

We don't actually buy this stuff, do we?  Or do we?  It used to be the responsibility of the second secretary to hunt this stuff down from vendors / manufacturers.

I like the gift card idea too.  but make it a gift card good for vendors at the swaps. that way there's something for everyone and you keep it all in the family.  I have strong opinions about pet stores in the area and wouldn't put down any money to win an aquarium adventure gift card. (sell fish on commission?  come on!)

Typically, the raffle today allows you to pick from various items as available, unless you're the last number called.  With gift cards, gift certiificates, an inventory can be pre-established and easily transported mtg to mtg whereby 5 winners can pick from an abundant inventory.  Thereby allowing you to avoid vendors your do not wish to support.

AC110 seems to be a pretty popular filter, 5lbs. of NLS would go a long way for a few people, but gift cards are definitely a good idea.
