Here is a response from one of the most trusted Pleco guys around, (his name is jos) He is from Bristol, UK (About an hour away from Plymouth, where my In-Laws are)

Ah yes I agree with Jax defo L001 - Pterygoplichthys joselimaianus

(the new "comon plec") I've seen them for sale under the trade name of gold spot ,leopard,Spotted sailfin ,blah blah blah .

Easy to keep (I have several spread through out my tanks) its just a shame a lot of them lose the striking spots as they grow and end up a mottled brown fish.

hers one of mine for comparison




twas about 5" at the time (nearly double that now)

Straight from a buddy in Canada, who is a L catfish freak....

L# is L-001 but the pics you will see are not going to look like this fish at all. If this fish is a sail fin ( I think it is ) it has great marking and colour. It might be what they are calling a reverse marbled sail fin these days. Better pics will help for sure.
