Might want to think about the general type of fish you want before designing the tank. lots of holey rock generally works best with Africans.

If you did a tank all full of holey rock and decided you wanted big central Americans you'd have a problem.

just a thought.

Also, If you're water is garbage, consider an RO unit.

Diatom filter will make the water in the tank sparkle, RO will give you clean water to put in the tank in the first place.

Hi,

I am looking to putting together my first aquarium! So the geek in my decided to go out out and purchase a 90 gallon. I haven't spent the money on anything else.

What I want to do is make it very LOW MAINTENANCE!

I am thinking about getting two Ehiem pro 3 wet dry filters, a diatom filter (my water is yuck here), I was thinking about putting in black or white sand or crushed coral. Does this sound like the right way to go?

I really want to stack Texas holey rock all the upwards in my tank with lots of holes and create a very stunning tank. I am not sure how much a 90 gallon all glass aquarium can HOLD? I am thinking I will need upwards of 400 pounds of the rock to get the full look! Does anyone know any place in IL where I could go and play with the rock and stack it in my tank? I have nothing around where I live! I am not sure how I can get the look I want without physical stacking it and playing with it for hours.
