I have thought about it. Maybe I'll put a bin outside this summer with some lemmon yellows in and see what happens.

must be something to do with the natural sunlight like how bettas and goldfish get when they are raised outside. well, i plan on putting a 30 gal kiddy pool or plastic bin outside and raising fry in it..thats if by then my tropheops red cheek decide they wanna breed for me. ;D

gotta love those cichlids!

Color is a huge difference. I had some midas cichlids outside a few years back, and when we brought them in, the orange on them was incredible. Overall, the only issue I've had with keeping fish outside is with algae blooms. I lost my whole pond a few years back due to one.

I have a confession. I'm a cichlaholic.

during the november club meeting John hansen, a fish farmer from arkansas, said he raises many species of peacocks outside during the summer months. he raises them in concrete vaults that a casket would go into before being burried into the ground. he says that the sunlight does something to the fish as well and he gets some very good color out of his outdoor raised fish.
