Whetfish, that's because warmer water holds less dissolved oxygen than colder water.  I.e. an oxygen issue.

Yeah, overall an oxygen issue.  I guess when i think of oxygen as the problem I don't automatically associate it with a potential heater malfunctioning.

Also fish breath faster in warmer water than cold... could be a temperature issue.

Could also be low dissolved O2. Do you have enough surface movement?

do you know what your water conditions are? could be a spike in nitrates, may wanna get some water changes going on that tank and see if it helps

fish breathing hard was created by hazard
I have a few fish that are breathing harder then usually.  Not necessarily getting picked on or chased?  I am assuming they are going to die before long.  Is this caused by a parasite?
