The best advice I can give you is go visit a discus board. Simplydiscus.com was a boar I visited years ago when I had this same question.

For whatever reason, they seem to deal with this a lot more than other cichlid keepers.

The other guy I would speak with (and you can buy some of this from, I think) is Jon at Jehmco.com.

Good luck.

I am wondering if anyone has experience using the specific product Fish Bendazole Forte made by Thomas Laboratories or the use of fenbendazole just in general? I have been trying to use it to treat a suspected worm infection in my African cichlids. Several fish in the tank have had various symptoms including, wasting (sunken in bellies), bloated abdomen with fish exhibiting otherwise normal behavior, a bulge in the lower abdomen near the vent, or the occasional loss of appetite. I believe I have lost a few fish to the parasites. I have tried using Safe-Guard (fenbendazole) which is marketed as a dog dewormer most recently with mixed success. The primary issue being dosing and the drugs very poor water solubility. I have been considering ordering this product, Fish Bendazole Forte and trying that since it has standardized dosing. If anyone has experience with this product or fenbendazole I would greatly appreciate some information. The issue has been going on for many months now and I have tried in the past metronidazole, praziquantel, and formaldehye /quinine in the food and/or water without much success.
